BACKGROUND CHECK: Red spicy tteokbokki was created in 1953, the year the Korean War came to a conclusion, by a woman by the name of Ma Bok-rim in the Sindang-dong district of Seoul. It has a more recent history than gungjung tteokbokki, which has been around for centuries.

COOKING AND HEATING INSTRUCTION:
1. Pour 100mL of water and add a pack of rice cake an powder sauce to the pan. Double up on everything for two servings.
