Best “bargain” Japanese soy sauce
I love the flavor of this soy sauce. Can you buy small batch, hand crafted soy sauce? Of course, but it’ll obviously cost you a good deal more. For the price of this Yamasa soy sauce it’s an easy button hit over the usual store found stuff like kikkoman. So for everyday use this is definitely my go to. Get a decent soy sauce dispenser and you’re good to go.
As some others have pointed out, my bottle arrived with the top crushed to one side. If I wanted a side pouring spout, that would be great, but I don't. The packing needs to be adjusted or some bottles are sent this way. The quality of the product is not in question. Will probalby re-order hoping this is a rare occurence.
Makes great Teriyaki Jerky
I really like the low sodium flavor. It has a better balance, esp. for things like sushi. But my main use is for making Teriyaki Jerky. I marinate thin slices of Eye of Round in a mixture of this and brown sugar, black pepper, a little pineapple concentrate and a few other things for about 24-48 hours. Seems to go pretty fast around here...
Only one that I could find that did not have sodium benzoate and is also lower sodium. Having a lower sodium is widely known for less of an effect on blood pressure and not having sodium benzoate with its probability, although low, to convert to the carcinogen benzene, makes this item appear as a more healthy alternative. And it tastes good. We use it to sauté mushrooms (yes, the healthy safe variety)
